Gavin recalls:

"After injuring my back kayaking, I went to physio for the full amount of time they recommended, receiving ultrasound, massage and electrical stimulation.  Still, my back gave me near constant pain and discomfort.  I finally found Dr. Kjaer and went with the full recovery option.

Within a couple of weeks I began to notice an improvement, and there was no pain associated with the treatment.  As I continued with treatment, I had less and less pain, and I began to feel a sense of greater strength in my back, giving me greater confidence. I also attended one of Dr. Kjaer's lectures, and now keep my back posture in the front of my mind as much as possible. I am very careful now with the way I move and exercise, while enjoying greater confidence in my back since my injury.

In addition, I have found Dr. Kjaer to be very special among doctors, in that he actually listens to your concerns, is genuinely interested in your activities between visits, and tailors his treatment accordingly.

I would highly recommend Dr. Kjaer to anyone who has injured their back recently or even in the past, has problems with posture, and is looking for a permanent solution to living their life to its fullest and gaining full confidence again in their back".

Lower Back Pain . . . Why Suffer?

Low back pain is a sign that something is wrong!

Dr. Kjaer, Victoria Family Chiropractor, may help if you have:
  • sharp pains, dull ache, or stiffness in the low back
  • pain / numbness / tingling down one or both legs
  • a chronic or recent lower back injury
  • tight muscles in the back of the legs or low back
  • stress in your life - whether it is physical or emotional
  • difficulty performing your work duties or recreational activities
  • a child having many falls - even if the falls seem trivial or he/she is not complaining of symptoms.  Children benefit from chiropractic care too.

Low back pain results in millions of dollars of lost work and untold suffering every day. Up to 80% of all adults will eventually experience back pain. Clearly, back pain is one of society’s more significant conditions. Dr. Kjaer treats a wide range of conditions, but much of his practice is treating and correcting low back pain. In fact, the most common reason people are referred to our office is for low back problems.

Improper sitting or lifting, overexertion, a fall or other trauma, and inherited spinal abnormalities can be the cause of low back pain. Really, it is the normal activities we all do each and every day that create problems in our low backs. When bones of the spine lose their normal position or motion, ligaments, nerves, tendons, discs, joints and muscles can be affected. When these tissues are damaged or irritated they create pain and many other symptoms.

It might seem a simple solution to take aspirin and drugs to cover up the symptoms, but the actual cause of the low back pain is not being addressed. Dr. Kjaer, using massage, physical therapy, or chiropractic, could restore proper function to the damaged tissues.

Many people find relief with chiropractic care. If a thorough examination reveals reduced range of motion, short ligaments, tight muscles or mechanical restrictions, chiropractic care may make a difference. Chiropractic treatments could alleviate the day-to-day tension that builds up in each of us by restoring proper motion to the spinal joints. This can improve function and reduce painful symptoms.

Dr. Kjaer utilizes treatments to correct this and other musculo-skeletal problems. Ultimately, this can ensure that you get more out of your family time, hobbies and physical activities.

Change your life for good.
